Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Krown rust protection services. Can't find your answer? Call us at 330-785-7895.
Krown rust protection is designed to last approximately one year under normal driving conditions in Ohio. The oil-based formula gradually dissipates over time as it works to protect your vehicle, which is why annual reapplication is recommended. In particularly harsh conditions or for high-mileage vehicles, the protection may diminish more quickly. Most customers notice the best ongoing results when they schedule their service at the same time each year.
Krown recommends annual reapplication for optimal protection. Since Ohio winters deposit substantial amounts of road salt, scheduling your Krown service once per year, ideally in the fall before winter road salt season begins, provides continuous coverage. Many customers who return annually for reapplication report significantly less rust-related maintenance and repair costs over the lifetime of their vehicles.
Absolutely. In fact, applying Krown rust protection to a new vehicle is the ideal strategy. Starting protection from day one means your vehicle's metal surfaces are continuously protected before any corrosion can begin. While many people think factory coatings are sufficient, they do not penetrate into the cavities, seams, and internal structures where rust most commonly starts. Krown fills these gaps, providing comprehensive protection that factory coatings cannot deliver.
Yes. Every annual Krown treatment at our Akron shop comes with a Krown warranty backed by the manufacturer. New vehicles get lifetime coverage. Used vehicles get coverage for up to 60 months, subject to shop approval. See our warranty page for full coverage details.
All body panels below the window line, all seams and crevices, and all floor and rocker panels. If a covered area rusts through from the inside out, Krown pays for the repair, up to the vehicle's wholesale or cash value per the Red Book, depending on the warranty track.
Yes, at no cost to you or the new owner. The Krown warranty travels with the vehicle and can be honored at any Krown shop in North America.
Krown requires the annual reapplication within 30 days, plus or minus, of your anniversary date to keep the warranty active. Skipping a year ends the warranty. Call us at 330-785-7895 if you're not sure when your last treatment was. We have your record on file.
Our pricing starts at $149 for cars and sedans, $159 for SUVs and crossovers, and $169 for trucks, XL SUVs, and vans. Fleet vehicles, school buses, and fire trucks are priced based on vehicle size and quantity. Please contact us for a custom quote. We also offer return customer discounts for those who come back annually for reapplication. Given that rust repair can easily cost thousands of dollars, annual Krown protection is one of the best value maintenance investments available.
Most standard vehicle applications are completed in under two hours. Larger vehicles such as trucks, vans, and SUVs may take slightly longer due to their greater surface area. We recommend calling ahead to confirm estimated service time for your specific vehicle. After the application, we ask that you allow the formula approximately 24 hours to fully settle and penetrate before washing your vehicle.
Krown's T-40 formula is safe and effective for virtually all vehicles, including passenger cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans, commercial trucks, school buses, fire trucks, and other fleet vehicles. We work with individual vehicle owners as well as businesses and municipalities managing vehicle fleets. If you have a specific vehicle type you're unsure about, give us a call and we'll be happy to discuss your options.
No, Krown rust protection does not void or affect your vehicle's manufacturer warranty. Krown's T-40 formula is a non-invasive treatment that is applied to external and accessible surfaces. It does not modify any mechanical systems, electrical components, or any other warrantable systems. Additionally, Krown has been applied to millions of vehicles and has an established track record with major vehicle manufacturers.
Yes. Krown T-40 is formulated to be non-toxic, non-hazardous, and environmentally responsible. It is biodegradable and safe for use around people, pets, and the environment. Krown's formula does not contain any ozone-depleting chemicals and has been reviewed for environmental compliance. This makes it a responsible choice for environmentally conscious vehicle owners who still want the best available rust protection.
Our certified technicians apply Krown T-40 to the complete underbody including frame rails, floor pans, and cross members; all door panels, rockers, and sills; hood and trunk cavities; wheel wells and fender liners; rear quarter panels; all factory seams and weld joints; and brake line and fuel line channels. The goal is complete coverage of every surface where moisture can reach and rust can form.
